Did you know that today marked the first day that the Iraqi people are essentially taking control and responsibility of their own country again? No, you say?

Well, did you know that Michael Jackson is apparently not the biological father of his children, and neither is his ex-wife? OF COURSE YOU DID!

Isn’t the mass media great? Fantastic I tell you.. RIP MJ, but the world needs to move on to what’s happening in the here and now.

The Iraqi people celebrated today as their National Sovereignty Day, in commemoration of the withdrawal of American troops from urban Iraqi cities. It’s quite a big day, because it finally allows our troops the ability to get out of the direct line of fire… so to speak. They’ve been moved out of the cities and onto the outskirts in case their assistance is needed, but some Iraqi’s are saying this isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. There are accounts from Iraqi citizens that show uncertainty in the Iraqi government’s ability to protect the country and its people…

It is true that the Iraqi military forces are pretty fresh out of the sandbox, but all we can do is h0pe that they know what they’re doing enough for our brothers and sisters to finally leave Iraq (even though they’ll probably just end up in Afghanistan) . This is something important for everyone to be paying attention to, because it marks the beginning of a new era in the middle east; if this works, then go us!

This is yet another plea for people to wake up and start looking at the world around them… yes, the King of Pop will be missed, but isn’t it more urgent to talk about things that have great national importance?  I know that I sometimes go against the grain as far as popular media is concerned, but come on… get over it.

God bless America.
